Do Less.

Written on 05/19/2025

This weekend I went out on the lake and attempted to wake surf. I’ve never done it before, so it was all new to me — but my friends, who were experienced, made it look so easy. It just flowed for them.

Definitely not my experience.

Still, I had fun. And at one point, I was reminded of that scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall where Paul Rudd’s character tells Jason Segel to “do less.”
“The less you do, the more you do.”

It hit me. It was all about flow.

It’s like watching a dancer who just lets their body move — effortless, embodied — versus someone who’s trying to nail every move through sheer force.

And it got me thinking about how much effort I’ve been putting in lately. And maybe, just maybe, the answer isn’t to push harder… but to do less.

Not less care. Not less intention.
But less forcing. Less gripping. Less chasing.

  • What if the transformation you’re after… comes when you stop chasing it?
  • What if your body already knows what to do — once you stop trying to outsmart it?

Let this week be a return to your natural rhythm.
Let “doing less” be your signal of trust.

  • Where are you forcing something that wants to flow?

  • What can you release control over — just for today?

Recommendation:

This week,  try to take a break from pushing yourself.  Use the Detox House practices  in a way that feels good to your body vs. forcing it. Cold plunge for less time, don't overdo it in the sauna.... just listen to the body.
