Envy as a Portal for Expansion

Written on 09/08/2025

Envy = desire for something you don’t have.

What you envy in others is actually expansion happening within you.

Neuroscience says we cannot accomplish things that we can't physically see for ourselves. Through mirror neurons, we don’t just watch others—we internally simulate their actions and outcomes. This is why seeing someone with the healthy relationship you long for, or watching a startup founder with a background like yours succeed, sparks something inside you.

It’s not just envy. It’s your brain saying: this is possible for you too.

What are you envious of? Who are you envious of? This is a portal to showing you what is possible.

This week, focus on what's possible for you. Take the possibility through breathwork, a sauna, or cold plunge. In the practice, remind yourself that it is possible for you and you are just as capable and ready to have these things. Expand your nervous system to hold it. Remind your brain it can be yours too.

  • With breathwork, release the “not me” story and breathe in the reality that you are capable.

  • With cold plunge, let the water clear the old limits from your system.

  • With sauna, sweat out the heaviness that says you can’t.

Remind yourself: It is possible for me. My nervous system is expanding to hold it. My brain can believe it. My body is ready to live it.
